Which English letters are no longer with us and who decided that? All these letters, cut into marble or raised on metal, tell us stories of people long gone, some of whom shaped Bombay as a city. We walk inside the St Thomas's cathedral looking at the letters that inhabit the building. Letters over graves and memorials placed by people who wanted them remembered in a place of prestige. We also look at how the English language has evolved over the centuries affecting languages and scripts. We examine who made those letters and how they look the way they do.
