Kolaba Type Walk with Tanya

Come walk around lanes of Colaba as you peel off layers of the city and read between the "lanes". This TypeWalk looks at letters, language and identity of the area and how it’s constantly being rewritten. We look at the work of sign painters and other kinds of skilled labour that goes into the making of a letter and how these help tell the story of Colaba.

Tanya George is an independent typographer, type designer, and design educator based in Bombay. She pursues a wide-ranging independent practice that includes artistic pursuits anchored in letterforms as well as designing letters for brand identities as well as fonts across different Indian Scripts. She also conducts TypeWalks around Mumbai, along with typography workshops, and writes about type. She is a docent and India correspondent for the Letterform Archive.
