Who was responsible for the city's trade in Opium? When and where did it begin? Which buildings' foundations were laid thanks to poppy seeds? This walk around South Mumbai will attempt to answer these questions.
While teaching young students about Mumbai's history, Deepali Furtado discovered she knew very little about it herself. Thus began a quest for knowledge about the city's growth and, many heritage walks and talks later, she would like to share all she has learned with anyone who is interested. In addition to hosting walks through Mumbai's historic Fort district, Deepali is a docent at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum where she leads tours and workshops for diverse audiences - her favourites are the loud, curious school groups of all ages!
