This brand new walk launches at the Mumbai Walks Fest in December 2025!
Join me in the historic Fort precinct to uncover how health, disease, and healing shaped everyday life in old Bombay. Sneak a peek behind the stone and mortar into dispensaries frozen in time, forgotten hospitals, and strange miracle-promising remedies. From sweeping epidemics to the pioneers who shaped medicine, we revisit stories of a city full of resilience, wit, and surprises.
Nirali Patel is a radiologist whose fascination with what lies beneath the surface extends beyond X-rays to the city itself. Intrigued by the intersections of medicine, history, and art, she spends her time exploring Bombay’s museums, galleries, and forgotten corners in search of untold stories. Her curiosity about public health and the city’s old battles with disease has led her to see Bombay as a living organism — where traces of compassion, enterprise, and everyday life linger just beneath the dust of the present.
