We look forward to eating outdoors when the weather is nice, but Circle Sixty Nine is a fantastic place for a family dinner, a romantic date or just a casual lunch. Basically - a restaurant for all seasons and reasons.

It’s India’s first ever restaurant dedicated to regenerative agriculture. Regenerative agriculture goes a step beyond sustainability, in that it leaves the soil richer than when you began. We are massive fans of Araku in Bangalore and thrilled to see this landmark in Bombay.

A 12-week pop-up brought to you by the beloved and brilliant Chef Gresham of Saltwater Grill (and in fact, the pop-up is cleverly located in the same venue but with a distinct riff on branding, menu and vibe) - we loved the inventive drinks by Pankaj of Countertop (rum and sugarcane for the win) and the fabulous small plates and mains that were part-nostalgia, full-taste. Make sure you reserve a table before this pop-up potentially shuts at the end of December. You’ll be wise to go back a couple of times as their menu is extensive, with plenty of amazing vegetarian options. Make sure you say hi to the ever-friendly Bandra born and bred chef who’s always around to ensure his guests are having the best time. We are.

Apparently India’s first Negroni bar, the downstairs is perfect for a night-time bar scene and the food upstairs at the restaurant is excellent - Indian fine-dining with strong coastal influences.

While there is a whole lotta shakin’ going on behind the bar, the signature cocktails are a labour of intensive effort and deep immersion into the bylanes of Bandra.

Despite not fitting into a label, it is very authentic, as you’ll see once you sample the homely and flavoursome food and take in the ambience. Regulars at the restaurant rave about the pizzas, which is transportive in its flavours. You must try the cocktails, which complement the fare wonderfully yet hold their own quite well.

Hidden behind the decidedly loud “Mansionz” store (but then, aren’t all speakeasy bars hidden in plain sight?), this outdoor but shaded spot is a great place to savour a few fantastic cocktails. While PCO in Delhi stays true to its speakeasy, prohibition-era vibe, the Bombay outpost is a much more “open for all” place. A spot for early evening drinks that you can follow up with food from Pings or Saz (all owned by the prolific team behind Passcode Hospitality). The music can get really loud and you won’t get the same avant garde quality you get in Delhi so bear that in mind.

Toast Pasta Bar

by Urbanaut Founded by the genius chef/baker behind the sinful cafe Toast Doughnut Shop, this pasta bar stays true to authentic Italian cuisine (they’ve got more than Pasta on their menu!) and serve up some great cocktails too. We love the cozy space - it’s rare to find a place in Bombay that’s small and still serves alcohol, and the servers are fantastic. All in all it feels like you’re in a culinary school lab (in a good way). There’s an outdoor area as well so it’s perfect for all-weather dining.

They have healthy, delicious food with a smattering of influences from around the world - their Asian menu is fantastic.

The inventive dishes at Ekaa all come rooted in memory - with inspiration and ingredients sourced from all over the country (think sea urchins from Tamil Nadu). Minimal decor, an open kitchen to watch the maverick chefs make magic, a private dining room for larger groups, and furniture made by local artisans all add to the charm of this fine-dine spot. The restaurant scene in Mumbai has certainly upped its game and Ekaa is a fitting entrant to the arena.
