Avo's Kitchen
by
Urbanaut
Craving authentic Goan food and thalis but looking for a slightly elevated experience? Avo’s Kitchen is a must-try in that case. This place gets their food right and even have a sweet bar and cocktail program to accompany your local, seasonal and very delicious food. Their fish thali is a favourite but they even have a good vegetarian offering.
Larder and Folk
by
Urbanaut
The brilliant chef Priyanka Sardessai is the force behind this fabulous bakery and cafe. Their usuals are just incredible but we love an inventive bakery with different offerings on the menu ever so often as the bakers experiment. The cozy space in Panjim is a great spot for a meeting or to get some light work done as well.
The Second House
by
Urbanaut
The good folk behind The Daily in Mumbai join hands with the design genius that is Busride Studio to create a unique (actually unique) space where excellent food meets old-school Goa (the location is in Saligao) meets the visual arts. A bar, a verandah, AI powered projections on the walls, a beautiful open space, an area for intimate gigs - this is a treat that we hope will last it out.
Room One Cocktail Bar
by
Urbanaut
Room One is a great addition to the North Goa bar scene. Promoted by Siddharth Kerkar (artist, sculptor, designer and more), it’s a welcoming, moody (in the right way) bar with fabulous cocktails and a great night scene on the right days. They open at 8pm and generally stay open until the last guest leaves. A perfect bar for a groups of friends catching up - you’ll love the hospitality and service.
MO's Cafe
by
Urbanaut
A neighbourly cafe hidden behind a charming yellow door - Mo’s is a lovely spot smack dab in Panjim that’s perfect for a catch-up cuppa with friends. Started by Moina Oberoi, we love their bakes and beverages and cozy outdoor, green space.
Fireback
by
Urbanaut
Hidden at the back of Hosa, the much celebrated South Indian restaurant from the lauded team behind Indian Accent is the fantastic Thai restaurant Fireback. Named after the national bird of Thailand, celebrated Michelin-star chef David Thompson brings his exceptional touch to Goa. Expect freshly made curry just for the day, unexpected flavours and thai food that you really can’t find anywhere else in India. Top it off with a Tom Yum cocktail and there you have it.
Marāi - The Courtyard of Slow Living
by
Urbanaut
We love, love a good courtyard - conversations, community and collaboration all seem to blossom within a courtyard - so we love that Malini Akerkar and her daughter feel the same way and have built their restaurant with the courtyard at its heart and soul. Marai is part bakery, deli, store, bar and more located in the still relatively quiet area of Arpora. Vibrant art, a tropical courtyard of course and an ingredient driven menu make this the hottest new space this season.
Sogo Bar & Grill
by
Urbanaut
Donovan Vaz, the popular owner of even more popular bars like Firefly and Tesouro (now both closed) brings a new and delightful new space to South Goa (now do you get the genesis of the name?) An incredible place for sundowner drinks - their paddy field views are truly special - Vaz brings renowned local mixologist Tobias Carvalho (who was instrumental in building the cocktail program at bars like Home in Delhi) back home to Goa to helm the drinks menu at Sogo. Expect really clever riffs on feni cocktails, great bar food, and that signature warm hospitality that only South Goa can give you.
Hice Cream Goa
by
Urbanaut
Alcohol in ice cream? That’s our curiosity piqued. Hice Cream, based out of Assagao, whips up boozy scoops of artisanal ice cream that are hilariously named after movies and songs — Sin City is a lavender martini ice cream and The Godfather puts LIIT in a scoop. If you’d rather skip the booze, they also have great vegan and regular ice cream. They stay well clear of synthetic flavours so you’ll get the freshest pint to go with a planned binge fest.
Slow Tide
by
Urbanaut
The quintessential Anjuna ‘Chai Shop’ on the beach came from the coconut tree….branches for the roof, stumps for foundation, bound by coir rope and so on - a space motif that soon evolved into the ‘Shack’. Slow Tide sits on what was the first such shack from the late 60’s….then named San Francisco, perhaps in praise of its hippie cousin of the time. Slow Tide, conceived in the pandemic redefines the Anjuna Shack. Award winning Sri Lankan architect Palinda Kannangara’s contextual sensitivity and experimental use of material informs the stunning design - it will be a space that is never complete, always evolving. We can’t wait to savour sunset cocktails and relive, for a moment, the Goa of old.
Moka Desserts & Cafe
by
Dinika Thomas
Dessert and coffee? Stop by this cute little garden cafe in Siolim and indulge in one of my favourites - Mango passion fruit cheesecake and a pour over coffee. The desserts look contemporary, a piece of art with a playful twist of Indian flavors or freshly plucked fruit. Speak to the owner Moumita, to know more about her inspiration for everything she creates!
Babu Huts And The Pagan Cafe
by
Aliya Rashid
The best local Goan sea food on the Ashwem beach stretch, Babu boasts of amazing prawn curries, calamari, chilli garlic noodles, and the best nutella pancake (basically a crepe) on the strip. Has beach beds at no charge and serves food right through the day. It has small beach huts at the back which one can grab to spend a night on the beach. Basic budget rooms for up for thetaking.
Grind Bar
by
Urbanaut
We love the high-quality coffee bars in Goa and Grind Bar is definitely a must-visit. Cozy little roadside space with fantastic coffee and an easy vibe. They also have a small listening room which doubles up as a DJ teaching school and Barista training centre for young Goans looking to acquire a new skill.
The Outpost
by
Urbanaut
Old school meets new world in a comfortable, unpretentious setting and we like it! From the people behind Sly Granny and Tereza by the Beach, this homely yet contemporary bar and bistro serves up comfort food and great cocktails. It’s a space where we’d love to listen to jazz and records, and allow the hum of voices to gradually take over our buzz. Make a visit.
BENO
by
Urbanaut
Named for Benaulim we presume, which is where this great little spot is serving casual brunchy food all day and a friendly, welcoming vibe that’s quite typical of South Goa. They also have regular jazz evenings and live music weekends which make for a very fun day or night out.
Zeebop
by
Urbanaut
This highly rated restaurant is quite the crowd puller, not least because of the rustic ‘susegad’ atmosphere that envelops the place. It’s likely that some of those sand-between-the-toes weddings in Goa you’ve caught glimpses of, took place here. But its calling card is hands down the seafood, which has people flocking to the restaurant from miles away. There’s a mind blowing variety of seafood specialities to choose from — we’re thinking jumbo prawns, mussels, lobsters... the feel of the sand between your toes and a beer or cocktail in hand is all you need to complete the experience and they happily oblige on that front, too.
Goenchin
by
India With Insia
Old school Chinese restaurant. Crispy honey chilli duck and clay pot rice for the win.
Boba Zai
by
Dinika Thomas
This quaint little cafe offers a wide range of everything bubbles! From their best seller Taro milk Bubble tea ( my absolute favorite ) to their delicious bubble waffles. Their bubble teas are served with fruit flavored bursting boba or ofcourse the OG brown sugar tapioca pearls. They even serve up quick bites with some whacky sweet-savory flavor combinations - ever tried fried chicken waffles?
alag.
by
Dinika Thomas
In the mood for some chunky cookies and Shokupan toast? Alag is a unique cafe that serves up a variety of chunky cookies from their cream cheese stuffed red velvet to their double chocolate and lotus biscoff cookies. Their Shokupan toast ( Japanese milk bread) is a must try and a unique one in Goa!

Horse Shoe Bar & Restaurant
by
Urbanaut
This might just be the best restaurant in Goa - namely because the chef - Vasco Silveira - is an exacting master who handpicks ingredients and makes each dish for his guests. He is one of the finest chefs in the country, if not the world, and his Goan Portuguese food is one of a kind.
Gunpowder
by
Netraa
Authentic South Indian food, deservedly one of the most popular restaurants in Goa
Bomras
by
Urbanaut
Bomras is an institution. Dishing up high end Burmese cuisine on a hidden terrace, this is one place you want to visit when in Goa
Bar Outrigger
by
Urbanaut
Tucked away in a small village in Dona Paula, Bar Outrigger is named after the stabilizing counterbalance on traditional boats and embodies both the nautical spirit and the craftsmanship of classic rum cocktails. With its namesake drink—a blend of dark rum, triple sec, and lemon juice—the bar perfectly balances tradition and adventure, making it a fitting tribute to the maritime elements that inspire it.
Boilermaker
by
Urbanaut
Boilermaker shakes up the scene in Siolim with its relaxed vibe and simple but skillful drinks. Rather than altering its surroundings, the bar integrates the local community into their design. Their menu offers a funky yet familiar twist on local favourites.
Grumps
by
Urbanaut
Grumps is a neighbourhood bar and eatery with fun Asian food, and inspired cocktails, all topped with a huge helping of character on the side. With their fun, light energy, and seating among lush trees in an uncrowded neighbourhood, Grumps is a place that has been built to turn their customers into friends who come back time and again.
Pablos
by
Urbanaut
They love being the family-run small neighborhood bar that is home to everyone. Pablo’s cocktail menu changes often depending on the fresh local produce available. However, there are some mainstays available all year round, like the passion fruit Paloma and the Kokum Curry Leaf. If ever you’re in the mood for an Elon Musk, then this is where to go.
State of Good Vibes MOIRA
by
Zarir
A welcoming sourdough bakery and cafe in Moira with excellent coffee, juices, healthy desserts and snacks, and of course Good Vibes.
Vinayak
by
Urbanaut
If Vinayak had a slogan, it would be this: “no frills, just good food.” The Goan favourite is where to go when you’re craving authentic seafood dishes and local fare. Vinayak’s doesn’t scrimp on flavours or spices. Their seafood is freshly bought every morning – and what a variety they bring to your table!
Soul Chef Goa- Feasts From The North East
by
Urbanaut
This tiny café in Fontainhas is whipping up quite the storm in the culinary department. They do a wonderful mush-mash of typical North-Eastern fare, focusing on what the owner-chef couple make best. You’ll find momos and street-style noodles as well as beautifully flavoured ribs and pork chops. Regulars say it all feels like eating a meal at a favourite friend’s house — cosy, friendly and high on flavour.
Davide's Pizzeria
by
Urbanaut
Davide’s used to be a crowd favourite in the Candolim area, not least because it was set up in a quiet, beautiful garden lit up dreamily with fairy lights. The classic restaurant has moved to Siolim now and is a go-to spot for those in the popular Siolim-Assagao-Anjuna belt. Davide and Alciela (the baker-in-chief) hand-make all their dishes from scratch, including the crisp-to-perfection pizza base that is their calling card. To ensure authenticity, they source their cheese, ham and prosciutto directly from Italy, so you can expect flashes of Rome coming to mind.
Goodfellas Italian Restaurant
by
Urbanaut
The food and the ambience: that’s what patrons of Goodfellas rave about the most. The wood-fired pizzas are flavoursome and quite authentic without cutting too deep into your wallet. If the place is packed—as it tends to be if you walk in without a reservation—take full advantage of the bar!
Earth Mama Smoothie Bar & Kitchen
by
Urbanaut
Your go-to for vegan, gluten-free, naturally sweetened smoothies and bowls made fresh everyday. Expect gorgeous edible flowers and personalised notes with your order! Visit if you want to feel good amidst all that debauchery in Goa - their vegan cheese and plant based options are delicious.
Darlings bar
by
Urbanaut
Darlings is a vibe. Head there early if you want to munch on pizza and take in the place because it gets super busy (and fun!) later on at night. The Chapora Main Street looks very different during the day and comes alive at night - bars, great pop-up restaurants and places that stay open until 4am - this area is reminiscent of the Goa of old. Visit for a fun night out as you pop in to the different spots on the street - you’ve got Habibi’s, Smoke and other great places to grab a drink or a meal till the wee hours of the morning.
The Black Sheep Bistro Aguad
by
Urbanaut
Goa’s beloved Black Sheep Bistro, run by Prahlad Sukhtankar finds a new home at the stunning Aguad - the former Portuguese jail that has been converted to a heritage landmark and destination by the sea. We highly recommend a visit to the Aguad, and having a great restaurant like BSB only makes it more attractive.
The Coconut Grove
by
Knowhere Travel Co
This is a stunning property located on one of South Goa’s quietest beaches, where it’s difficult to beat the view since the property is on the beach. You’re so close that you can hear the soothing waves directly from your bed. A green oasis located in a tranquil part of the beach, away from all the bars and restaurants, yet close to everything. At the seafront, the property comes with a shaded verandah built within a coconut grove in a tropical garden with a view across the sand to the Arabian Sea. Your own slice of paradise! The property consists of five colourful wooden cottages on stilts and offers an elevated view of the surrounding lush greenery. Come and enjoy the ultimate chill-out experience on the beach.
Como Agua
by
Urbanaut
Tbh, we’re always a bit wary of the crowd, and quality of restaurants, that the Vagator ‘strip’ attracts. But Como Agua, a little set back from the ocean (but with great sea views) and delicious wood-fired pizzas, might be an exception. Make a visit and decide for yourself?
Devang
by
Dinika Thomas
Simple I Beautiful I Natural The words that best describe this cute little cafe. Wholesome brekkie and lunch options that make you feel happy and satisfied ✨
Casanoni Trattoria
by
India With Insia
A traditional Italian trattoria serving hand rolled pastas, Neapolitan-style pizza, curated cocktails and more.
Olaulim Backyards
by
Urbanaut
The tagline of this rustic getaway is ‘the other side of Goa’, and it’s not hard to see why. Here you won’t find bars and beaches teeming with people, but you will find quiet waters, rustic cottages, sprawling lawns and an azure pool that beckons on summer days. The homestay is helmed by Savio and Pirkko, whose slice of heaven by the Olaulim River is an intentional departure from the images of Goa as we know it. The family and their pets live on the property so we’d recommend striking up a hearty conversation with them. And for the nature-inclined, a dip in the river or a kayaking trip at your own pace should not be missed.
The Village Bistro - Arpora
by
Urbanaut
Overlooking the paddy fields of Porba Vodda is Chef Gracian de Souza’s bistro that brings reimagined European fare to Goa. After consulting on menus for many popular restaurants in the bigger cities, the chef comes back to his hometown to experiment and play with local flavours in the best way. They have a wonderful wine bar as well if you’d like to sample local and international wines with your food. The plates are inventive and feature a range of delicious, light and flavourful dishes that are meant to be shared over many drinks. This is a refined yet unpretentious restaurant that retains a friendly village vibe.
Gratitude Café
by
Urbanaut
A vegan restaurant in Goa that’s both lovely and welcoming. They have a huge variety of vegan options and are bang-on when it comes to flavours and presentation. The salads, wraps and sushi get special mentions from regulars! There’s also a yoga centre on the property where you can sign up for sessions.
Padaria Prazeres
by
Urbanaut
Authentic patisserie, bakery and cafe in Panjim serving up the best breads and amazing desserts. Their Pastel de Nata is delicious and it’s one of the few places in Goa that get it right. Visit to stock up on your bakery supplies and for a coffee break with a sweet touch.
Savoi Plantation
by
Urbanaut
A stunning drive on great roads take you to this self-contained ecosystem. The Savoi Plantation is 10 hectares of pepper, turmeric, ginger, nutmeg, star fruit and a host of other spices and produce. Their local lunch buffet uses all their own produce as seasonal ingredients. While the lunch itself is simple, it’s a beautiful, peaceful experience - and the plantation is truly something else. A refuge and haven that showcases the real side of Goa.
Schandis Restaurant
by
Urbanaut
On a quiet stretch on Caranzalem beach is a ridiculously authentic Persian restaurant run by an Iranian couple. Meat lovers will rejoice at the selection of kebabs, herb and lamb stew and other delicacies - but there’s plenty in it for vegetarians too. Additionally, you’ve got the sea and river breeze fighting for your attention at this charming spot - so it’s got all that we’re looking for, to be honest.
Mojigao
by
Netraa
A wellness cafe that’s good for breakfast or to spend the day reading and relaxing. Good coffee, juices and middle eastern food as well. They’ve recently opened six stand-alone jungle cottages with outdoor verandahs - perfect for a blissful few days away.
Babka Goa
by
Urbanaut
Babka is a cute little cafe in Anjuna that is hard to miss — it’s also a favourite among Goans and frequent visitors alike. They brew some fabulous coffee, but the food gives the brew a run for its money. Bakers Karishma and Anant helm the patisserie-slash-coffee shop; while Karishma makes magic in the dessert section, Anant is your go-to for the brew. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and you can either pop in and out for fresh bakes or while away a sunny afternoon over brunch.
Dakté
by
Urbanaut
Dakté lives up to its literal meaning — it’s small, cosy and family-run. Helmed by chef Nisha Almeida and her partner Arjun, Dakté is the place to go in Siolim for sandwiches, salads, bakes, and beverages of both the healthy and sinful kind. The gluten- and dairy-free banana bread is a definite highlight.
Cafe Rasa
by
Urbanaut
This quaint little café and co-working space overlooks stunning sunsets on the Mandovi river, but there’s as much inspiration inside as outside. Walk in and you’ll find a plethora of seating options, from metal chairs to mind your posture on to low sofas perfect for informal discussions. They have all the trappings of the ideal coworking space– free WiFi, loads of electric sockets and lockers to stash your valuables in. A quieter area tucked in a corner of the restaurant doubles up as a great meeting space, but we dare say you’ll be drawn back to the mainland by the scents wafting out of the kitchen. Their food menu runs the gamut of dishes and flavours, but the local twists are what set them apart (Kulcha Tacos, anyone?)
Barefoot Goa
by
Urbanaut
A very relaxed and unpretentious co-working space and cafe in the scenic village of Parra. They encourage those in the creative space to use their location to work and be inspired.
Felix
by
Urbanaut
Felix is a massive villa in Anjuna that plays a whole host of roles, depending on what you’re there for. You’ll find a co-working space, an art gallery, a golden oldies bar, a restaurant and grill, even an art gallery and an artisanal coffee shop. It’s a confluence of everything that makes Goa what it is, really.
Casa Jaali
by
Urbanaut
A boutique property with rooms, huts and a Goan-style beach house nestled in a lush green environment. All rooms look out to the Patnem Bay, so you’re guaranteed some great views. Jaali Kitchen, their in-house bistro, features a healthy menu with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean influences. Its sister property, the Jaali Café, is a cult favourite in Patnem for a diverse menu using local fresh produce.
The Mill
by
Urbanaut
A soulful little café tucked into a quaint bylane near Palolem beach. It’s set in a renovated rice mill (hence the name) and packs quite a punch in the food department. Head here for breakfast and lunch faves as well as other healthy food and drink options that are very welcome when the weather gets hot.
Mr. Baker 1922
by
Urbanaut
Definitely one of the most legendary bakeries in Goa. It’s a quaint family-run enterprise that’s been putting in the work since 1922. You’ll want to head there for the Bebinca and the Batica, two Goan exclusives that your experience here would be incomplete without.
Rare Republic
by
Urbanaut
If you know, you know. These guys use the best ingredients ( a French chef is at the helm here, so we aren’t surprised) to bake the freshest breads and croissants. Pair with a coffee and you have your morning sorted in Goa.
Idā - Boutique bar & kitchen
by
Urbanaut
Idā, a family-run restaurant, is best known for its fusion dishes as well as the laidback vibe you’ll find yourself enveloped in. It’s a beautiful property, but the food tries to one-up it, and succeeds. The hospitality is also worth writing home about because it has all the warmth and intimacy you’d expect from a family affair.
The Cape Goa
by
Vinnie Singh
The Cape Goa boasts of one of the best views in South Goa. Located on top of a cliff near Cabo de Rama fort, the restaurant serves delicious North Indian, Continental, Goan and fresh seafood. They also have an excellent selection of cocktails.
Black Vanilla Gourmet
by
Urbanaut
Black Vanilla is both experimental and diverse, leaning towards French and European-style cuisine in a rustic property. The burgers and fruit iced teas are much raved about.
Edible Archives
by
Urbanaut
Fresh, seasonal, ingredient driven cuisine in the courtyard of a century old Goan home - Edible Archives is a welcome addition to Goa’s culinary scene. Having delighted visitors to the Kochi Biennale 2018-19, we are thrilled that Goa will now be permanent home to this wonderful experience.
Verandah
by
Gianfrancesco Perrone
Small quaint restaurant run by an American and his Indian partner. The menu changes seasonally as they host chefs from different parts of the world.
BATE PAPO GOA
by
Urbanaut
Nestled in a quiet by-lane of Mudda vaddo in the ageless and traditional village of Saligao is a fresh hideaway for travellers as well as resident Goans. Bate Papo is a quaint yet stylish space conceived in a typical Goan home, with 5 rooms, a café and an array of home stay amenities, a souvenir store and a tea room.
Miguel's - Cocktails & Petiscos
by
Urbanaut
The lovely neighbourhood of Fontainhas is now host to an intimate art-deco inspired restaurant. Miguel’s cuisines represents a 450-years pf Konkan-Portuguese culinary fusion, with a contemporary twist. Their cocktails are pretty amazing too.
Tataki - Immersive Asian Dining
by
Urbanaut
Tataki is immersive from the get-go: the vast room is dotted with tables and flickering candles and the luminous bar, complete with a cherry blossom installation, takes pride of place. That sets the tone for the experience to come — a kitschy exploration of Asian cuisine presented in delicate serveware and bursting with flavour. The cocktails make for perfect accompaniments, and the desserts a lovely bow atop the prize.
Burger Factory Morjim
by
Urbanaut
Smack bang on the beach at Morjim, this is the perfect spot to overdose on calories after you’ve been beaten about by the waves. Juicy, delicious burgers (and we like their sangrias too) on the beach. Sounds perfect to us.
JAMUN GOA
by
Urbanaut
Delhi’s popular Jamun opened its doors in Goa in late-2019 and became an instant favourite. Literally India on a plate, we love Jamun for providing high-quality pan-Indian cuisine in an incredible setting.
House No.2
by
Urbanaut
House No. 2 is set in a picturesque Portuguese bungalow, so you’d think that was enough to draw the crowds. But check that thought quick — the Goan-style food is just as powerful a crowd-puller. In particular, the squid and pork dishes have some rave reviews from previous diners. The name might be No. 2, but they’re clearly gunning for No. 1 on your list.
The Farm House Bistro & Bar
by
Urbanaut
This bistro and bar is off the beaten track but well worth your time, especially if we’re talking food (which, of course, we always are). Seafood and meat dishes are their calling card; coupled with lilting live music and a warm and cheery atmosphere, you’ve got yourself a winning combination.
Florentine Bar & Restaurant.
by
Urbanaut
Centrally located in Saligao, Florentine is simple, practical and serves possibly the best chicken cafreal. Easy on the pocket, super popular, and with a focus on the food - this is a great place to stop before or after a long beach session.
Cantare
by
Urbanaut
The definition of old-school Goa, Cantare is warm and inviting. Known for their live music nights, and their friendly neighborhood vibe - this is a great spot to go to when you want something low-key, unpretentious, and fun
Jardin D'ulysse
by
Urbanaut
Head to this twinkling garden for evening drinks where a light tipsy suits the occasion perfectly. The name evokes a sense of mystical romance and indeed, the ambience at Jardin d’ulysee is perfect for those lazy, hazy post-beach evenings.
BOMBIL RESTAURANT
by
Urbanaut
A little hole-in-the-wall in Panjim, Bombil - run by Joseph has five tables, a blackboard with the day’s specials and delicious food. The rechado thali, Goan pulao and practically anything you try is 👌👌
Zest Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurant
by
Vinnie Singh
Zest is a haven for vegans and vegetarians. Their eclectic menu has options ranging from Pizzas and Sandwiches to Vietnamese Summer Rolls, Miso Ramen, Mexican Bowl and Mezze Platter - a bit from every corner of the world. They also do diary-free desserts such as nice creams.
Blackmarket Goa
by
Urbanaut
Neighbourhood cafe by day, elevated bar by night, Blackmarket serves up modern cuisine and inventive cocktails in a great space. For the time being, their sister restaurant Black Sheep Bistro is also operating out of the same location.
The Rice Mill - Cafe ⋅ Bar
by
Urbanaut
Housed in – you guessed it – an old rice mill, this lovingly-restored café-bar is Goa’s go-to for jazz Saturdays and weekend brekkie. The 1950s-era building is slap-bang in the middle of a charming village, with lush green views outside and brick-clad walls and rustic decor inside. Architect and owner Raya Shankhwalker’s love for coffee bleeds into the menu, as they source their beans from a nearby roastery in small batches so your morning cuppa is always fresh and energising.
Mona's Pantry
by
Urbanaut
Mona’s Pantry leaves other artisan pastry ventures in the dust when it comes to both delicious bakes and undeniable popularity. A little birdie has it that the fresh cream profiteroles and chocolate ganache cake are to die for. Mona’s Pantry is always busy — they supply pastries to other eateries as well — but whatever you order, you’ll find it’s worth the wait.
On The Go
by
Urbanaut
On the Go whips up authentic Peruvian snacks in a distinctly Goan setting, for a combination you wouldn’t have thought worked. The atmosphere is cosy and friendly, while the food is, simply put, great. The Peruvian Causa and meat and egg sandwiches are a crowd favourite.
Petisco
by
Urbanaut
Chef Gracian D’Souza, of The Project Café and Atelier by Anahata renown, helms this amazing Panjim gastrobar. The combination of the chef’s Goan roots and experienced cooking techniques results in a distinct culinary experience with a Spanish flair. You’ll find both ends of the gastronomic spectrum here, with pulled pork sandwiches rubbing shoulders with a glorious roast chicken with fried okra, all on the same menu.
Flourpower Bakeria Goa
by
Urbanaut
Fresh artisanal bread made with loads of love: that’s Flourpower Bakeria in a nutshell. They’ll tease your taste buds with natural sourdough, desserts and — the showstopper — healthy, mouthwatering woodfire pizzas with seasonal toppings. Between serving up the (non-alcoholic) drinks and checking on the bakes, the couple who run this micro-bakery are more than happy to strike up conversations with diners. And as for recommendations, we’ve seen quite a bit of fanfare about the sourdough pizzas, so that’s a great place to start.
Mon Petit Frère
by
Urbanaut
At this café-slash-bakery, two brothers work all the magic. It’s an underrated gem of a place that whips up incredible bakes and pastries from scratch. It’s quite small and cosy — but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in quality of food and warm hospitality. Goans who frequent this place swear by the breakfast menu, including the omelettes and the pancakes.
Noronha's Corner
by
Urbanaut
The brothers behind Noronha’s Corner — Charles, Lazarus and Joseph — know all too well that the way to one’s heart is through the stomach. The corner where they park their food truck is always buzzing, with people anticipating their order and those who’ve got it, blissfully enjoying it. The food truck whips up amazing Goan street food, from sausages and chicken cafreal to burgers and served-three-ways beef cutlets. If there ever was a local haunt that Goans would all agree on, it’s Noronha’s Corner — and despite all that hype and lip-smacking food, the prices are so reasonable, they’re unreasonable.
The Flying Goat- Café | Bar | Bookstore
by
Urbanaut
It’s in the name - this pet-friendly café, bar and bookstore is also a great co-working space and hosts some fantastic events (talk about being an over-achiever)! We love their Saturday night jazz, their active listening sessions and their indie movies in the open-air. But if you also want to pull out an old book, settle into a corner with a drink or a cuppa and your doggo by your side - you’d be equally at home.

by
Netraa
Cafe, treehouses, wood fired pizzas, organic garden at the back - just a laid-back Goa spot ideal to while away an afternoon
Cuebebar
by
Urbanaut
Head to Cuebebar, a grungy smokehouse in Assagao, for amazing smoked meats. Chef Arjun and his school-friend-turned-bartender Ankush’s combined obsession for smoked meat is obvious in that they created their own smoker from an old water tank. The meat platter is next-level delicious, but you won’t go wrong ordering anything else off the menu.
Luna’s Ristorante Goa
by
Urbanaut
Luna’s serves up great Italian food, from the classics to the less well-known. Patrons rave about the pizzas and the desserts - no wonder, because the owners are Italian and know what they’re doing. Pair your meal with good old vino or spice it up with a cocktail or two from the bar. You can also drop by for breakfast — they have English breakfast and freshly baked Italian pastries to dig into.
Don Rob's Bar
by
Urbanaut
At Don Rob’s, it’s always good vibes only. It’s a relaxed bar and eatery slap-bang in the middle of Vagator’s circle of hostels, so one can imagine the diverse crowd that stops by. Don Rob’s is ideal for late-night hangs, whether you’re looking for a last pint to end the night or a plate of delicious food. It’s a hole in the wall watering hole that you won’t find on regular tourist itineraries, but take it from the locals — stop by for ‘one for the road’ and you’re in for a grand time.

Bar 1240
by
Urbanaut
A “hidden” bar behind a bookshelf at Big Fat Sandwich, Bar 1240 doesn’t have a google link at the time of writing this post - but they do share their code on Instagram. Nevertheless, a nice spot to get a drink and feel like you’re in on a secret. They host live gigs and events from time to time and those are fun!

Sublime Goa
by
Urbanaut
Sublime is somewhat of an institution in Goa and has changed locations multiple times! Chef Saleem has won numerous awards for his focus on fresh, local food and ingredients. A favourite spot with those in the know, it also houses a boutique called Alchemy that sells clothing (flowy kaftans and the like) and accessories by indie designers

Vietnamese style beer garden serving Asian street food and innovative cocktails. Goa gets a taste of the famed Delhi outlet - excellent food.
Matcha Japanese Restaurant
by
Urbanaut
Matcha is the place to be if you’re on the lookout for freshly-rolled sushi and curated menus in Goa. It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it place, but they make up for that with food so good it sells out by evening. Aside from sushi, you’ll find udon dishes and delicious rice bowls. And before you ask, yes it’s all authentic, because Matcha is run by a lovely Japanese gentleman.
Joseph Bar
by
Julian Pinto
A quaint little Feni bar located in St. Tome, Panjim which is the lesser known of the two colonial quarters of Panjim. A great bar to start off a night out, especially if you’re visiting the city for the first time. Frequented by many friendly faces, Joseph Bar is a great place to meet new people as well as some of the old timers who love regaling stories of Panjim from a different time.

by
Julian Pinto
Tucked away in the middle of Vagator’s hustle and bustle is Hideaway. A lovely little cafe run by 3 friends turned business partners, all with a passion for food, drink, live music and the arts. by
Aliya Rashid
A cosy cafe, a speciality pizzeria and a happy food destination set in a gorgeous restored portugese house in lovely Arpora. A hidden courtyard, almost a secret garden, is where you sit to eat - bursting with color and green in the day and twinkling and romantic at night.
Ritz Classic Panjim
by
Urbanaut
Dating way back to 1978, this super local eatery has racked up what we can only call a cult following. Regulars swear that they serve the best Goan, Indian and Oriental food — and the seafood and Goan fish thalis sweep up all the bouquets. The service is swift and efficient, which makes up for the lack of fuss in decor. But who needs that when you get delicious food, right?
Artjuna
by
Urbanaut
Unofficial Israeli ‘ambassador’ of Goa Moshe, runs this charming cafe slash community centre and yoga studio. The food is fabulous with Levantine inspiration, they have a playground area for kids, yoga classes at their studio and even a library. Perfect for breakfasts or as a co-working space.
The Southern Deck
by
Urbanaut
Have a hankering to chill by the beach? Head to The Southern Deck for evening cocktails to the sound of the waves. The little eatery is well away from the more crowded areas of Benaulim, so the atmosphere is laidback and welcoming. The menu is definitely its calling card, and we’d wager each dish has its own fan following at this point. Regular diners swear that the staff only make the experience better — and that’s something we can get behind.
Sheela Bar & Restaurant
by
Urbanaut
This rooftop restaurant is a favourite stop along the route into Goa from the airport. It’s cosy and has great views of the Zuari river and the San Jacinto island. But what brings travellers a-knocking is the menu which packs fantastic Goan fare that go hard on the seafood. Their best dishes — those that regulars always frequent the eatery for — are the butter garlic prawns, chicken luimui and sanna.

One of the best places to indulge in authentic Goan cuisine. The staff is known for being highly attentive, and the dishes are packed with well-balanced flavours. Despite the name, you’ll find plenty of variety in the menu, from wraps to smoothies and beyond.
Fort Tiracol Heritage Hotel
by
Gianfrancesco Perrone
A spectacular view of the bay awaits you at this heritage fort converted into a small hotel. Rooms are nicely decorated but I suggest the restaurant as the highlight of this location. Good food and an unparalleled panorama!

Okapi Vegan Kitchen
by
Urbanaut
Okapi Vegan Kitchen’s Aarti Sinha is a familiar face for many Goans, as she’s been bringing delicious vegan fare to all the popular fairs and pop-ups in the area. She specialises in plant-based dishes that are whipped up from locally-sourced produce and score quite highly on the health front. Her aim is to marry flavours and textures in such a way that non-vegans are tempted to switch lanes. Aside from vegan and vegetarian food, you can also find gluten-free options on Okapi’s menu.
Thai n Wok
by
Urbanaut
Locals will tell you not to even bother with another Thai restaurant when in Goa. Founded by a Thai national, Thai n Wok serves ridiculously authentic and delicious Thai fare in a simple and unpretentious setting. You’re getting that authentic meal you want.
Jamming Goat
by
Urbanaut
This is the Goa people envision: a beach bar with great music and drinks flowing all day. That said, the food also “takes you to heaven”, as one patron commented. The menu is chock-full of variety so you’re as likely to get special prawn curry and Guntur chicken as chorizo-stuffed bread.
Antonio@31
by
Urbanaut
Helmed by popular Goan chef Pablo Miranda, Antonio@31 is a hole-in-the-wall tapas bar and restaurant that’s all about the food and the ambience. You’ll feel a distinctly European vibe when you enter, although the menu and decor do feature local flavours for a pleasant twist.
Neighbors Goa

Urbanaut
Assagao is home to almost every new concept in Goa. Neighbours (although they use the American spelling!) by Maravilha is your friendly cafe, cocktail bar and bakery that aims to be a place that takes you from day to night without you needing to go anywhere else. The charming al fresco area is perfect for those evening drinks and conversations with ‘neighbors’
Burger Factory Nerul
by
Urbanaut
If the beachfront destination of Burger Factory is all sand and sun, then the lush, verdant surroundings of this space speaks to Goa’s hinterland and greenery. A charming bungalow, pet-friendly space, tables literally surrounded by foliage and the same high-quality burgers you’re used to, Burger Factory Nerul is a perfect place for locals or those trying to avoid the busy north.
Kopi Desa Agonda
by
Urbanaut
A cute little neighbourhood bar that spills on to the street. Easy vibe.
Pousada by the Beach
by
Urbanaut
If there’s one thing that even strangers can agree on when in Calangute, it’s that Pousada by the Beach serves mouthwatering food. The rustic open-air eatery is all about the gifts of the sea, which they present in Portuguese or Konkan-style dishes. The ambience is serene, made even more so by its location on a lesser-frequented beach strip. It’s worth trailing off the beaten path for, and the friendly canine mascots make it all the more enjoyable.
House of Chapora by the bay
by
Urbanaut
Right next to another favourite, Rudy’s, is this whimsical wonderland by the Chapora jetty. House of Chapora attracts a diverse, alternative crowd thanks to its eclectic programming - disco, funk, tribal, techno, jazz, or a live band can grace different nights of the week. The decor is upcycled and art-filled.

A stunning beach front property which has about 20+ rooms - a combination of concrete structures and beach huts overlooking the sea. Daily yoga classes in either of their two shalas are a must; their main yoga shala boasts the best views in Goa. Their restaurant Le Atelier is open through the day serving a mix of Goan and European Food. Rooms are available to be booked, best to check in advance as they fill up through the season with yoga retreats.

A little known favourite with the locals - this restauranteur comes with good pedigree - his mother is the head Goan chef at the Alila Diwa Hotel.
7 Short 1 Long Restaurant
by
Aliya Rashid
Run by a family of local retired shippies, the name means “Abandon ship” in morse code. A delightful place with amazing meals, it’s open only for dinner and has take away through the day. Home cooked food, which is a mix of Goan and European fare, crooners on weekends and an amazing vibe. Must try the Cajun calamari, beef tongue and butter garlic poi!
Cohiba Bar & Kitchen
by
Urbanaut
If you do want to head out and have a good old-fashioned night out dancing - then check out Cohiba. Their live bands are really good
Momoka - Dessert Bar | Kissaten
by
Urbanaut
We’ll admit - we had to google what a Kissaten was. We’ll save you the effort and say it’s a Japanese tearoom that also serves coffee. Momoka also has a range of Japanese desserts - their croissants are fantastic and the matcha latte was great. Although it’s housed in a slightly nondescript/unattractive building, it’s a sweet little space inside and their ceramics and plating and quality of food/drink are high-quality.
Confeitaria 31 De Janeiro
by
Urbanaut
One of the oldest bakeries in Goa featuring an adorable, atmospheric outdoor area (small, but very worthy of the ‘gram). Pick up traditional Goan sweets as well as cakes, breads and other bakes.
Spice Goa
by
Urbanaut
For authentic Goan seafood that’s just how they like it in traditional homes, look no further than Spice. At the helm of the eatery is Aparna Shah and Atul Shah, who’s apparently fondly known as Dr Fish because he picks the catch of the day each morning. From their elaborate menu that is a hat tip to Goan Saraswat cuisine, the mackerel tikla, ambotik curry and Sungta Tonak comes highly recommended.
The ASSA House
by
Urbanaut
French fine-dine spot in Assagao, great service and high-quality food. Worth a visit for a more refined, high-end meal.
Amavi by Sumera
by
Urbanaut
Amavi is an exquisite fine dining experience — and an award-winning one at that. It’s a cracker of a collaboration between gourmet chefs and international architects united by their one passion, which is to create an exclusive, never-before experience. Helmed by Chef Sumera Bhalla, the contemporary restaurant sets the stage for artistic plating and a delicate dance of flavours. Overall, it’s a resounding ‘yes’ from Goa’s gastronomic community.
Anamiva, Goa - AM Hotel Kollection
by
Urbanaut
Anamiva, despite being in ever-bustling Anjuna, is a world in and of its own. The luxury boutique hotel has more than 20 rooms but still retains an air of privacy and exclusivity that gives big names a run for their money. It’s flamboyant without being too on the nose, and has all the amenities you could hope to take advantage of, and then some.
Lush By the Cliff, Anjuna
by
Urbanaut
A refreshing dining joint with fantastic views over the cliff from the outside tables. It’s a great place to unwind and take it easy on a weekend — and the food and cocktails make the experience even better. Try to visit in time for the sunset.
Tien
by
Urbanaut
A contemporary BnB and bistro tucked into a quiet lane in Vagator. The in-house bistro is renowned for wholesome, nourishing meals that are influenced by the seasons and all-natural. Much of the produce is sourced from their in-house terrace garden! Their garden area also serves as a cute co-working spot (unofficially).
Basic B
by
Urbanaut
Goa’s go-to for pantry essentials. Think baked goods, breads, sauces, condiments, and meal kits. They’re handmade in-house and in small batches, so it’s as good as getting custom-made stocks for your pantry. They also have a sweet cafe with great coffee and a limited menu (toasties!) for folks looking for a good cup of coffee in the adorable village of Aldona.

by
Urbanaut
Incredible local family-owned restaurant in Nerul. They’ve been around for more than a decade - starting as a small family kitchen and have slowly expanded to allow for more tables and guests. Unbeatable local spot.
Tamil Table
by
Urbanaut
Tamil Table brings soul food from their doorstep to yours. Their special takeaway menus feature favourites, like Chicken Chettinad, and new entries like Rice Noodle Hoppers and Stir-fried Mangrove Ferns. Ever so often they drop a snack bomb – we’ve so far seen minced duck Pakodas and spinach Dal Vadai.
Cavatina Cuchina Grill And Bar
by
Urbanaut
Helmed by foodie couple Avinash and Tiz Martins, this unassuming eatery packs quite a punch in the flavour department. The menu dabbles wonderfully in a whole host of cuisine styles, from Indian and Goa-specific to Mediterranean and even Belgian. There is an attention to detail that sets it apart from the crowd of shacks and restaurants in Goa, and the food is so well recommended we’d say you should go in with an appetite.
Da Tita by Magic Italy - Authentic Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria
by
Vinnie Singh
Authentic Italian fare from an Italian family. Magic Italy serves pizzas, pastas, desserts and more made from scratch. They import their meats and cheeses from Italy. They were originally located much further south but their new location in Majorda is worth visiting no matter where you’re staying in Goa!
Saz on the Beach
by
Urbanaut
The prolific team behind many of Goa (and Delhi’s) favourite places open this ‘true’ beach club and bar. Right on Morjim beach, Saz is an American Brasserie serving stylish people and great food. A good spot to catch the sunset, party with friends and soak in a decidedly upscale vibe - don’t be surprised if you catch some Louis Vuitton toting “from the city” visitors. You might find this place much more commercial than other spots or it might just be the fun evening you’re looking for
Makutsu
by
Urbanaut
Everything Chef Pablo Miranda touches turns to edible gold. With his latest offering “Makutsu” , which translates to “Den of Thieves”, he brings the buzz of Kyoto’s streets to the streets of Fontainhas. This yakitori only 21-seater restaurant serves delicious meat on skewers and there are plenty of options for vegetarians as well. We love that Panjim is becoming the place you can hop from bar to bar, sampling cuisines and short bites and great cocktails from around the world.
Pablos
by
Gianfrancesco Perrone
Unassuming little hole in the wall so-to-speak with a great vibe. Always packed with the local residents of Goa, this recently opened bar has great music playing and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for those nights where you want to get out but not necessarily dress up. P.s this bar was popularly known as Esco Bar for years!
Casa Lusitana
by
Urbanaut
A highly recommended, high-quality restaurant started by two stalwarts in the Goa food scene - Anisha Hassan and Vasquito Alvares. The menu is heavy on meat dishes and a true delight for carnivores. They’ve got a sweet little cocktail menu and the ever so charming São Tomé location to boot. Don’t miss it.

JUNA
by
Urbanaut
Started by the awesome team behind the popular bar Hideaway, Juna is named after the beloved locality (Anjuna) in which it is found. A great cocktail program and unpretentious vibe mark this spot - and you’ll likely feel like you’re in an old school Goan bar when you visit.
Palácio do Deão
by
Urbanaut
Palacio do Deão houses within its walls a history of philanthropy, culture and grandeur. It’s more than 200 years old, and was built by a Portuguese nobleman on the banks of the beautiful Kushavati river. After being a home for Ciceroys, Chaplains and then destitute children, the building was privatised and opened to public to wander through. We’d also recommend dining at the Indo-Portuguese restaurant on the premises — they’re known to serve delicious meals and great cocktails with a homely warmth.
G-Shot Coffee Roastery & Cafe

The menu features Southeast Asian staples alongside Indian coastal delicacies that are at once familiar and contemporary.
Uncle Tim's Soul Food
by
Urbanaut
Soul food for the soul. Uncle Tim’s is where the locals go - period. After shutting his classic space in Porvorim down, Tim thrilled his regulars by opening in Pilerne. You’ll get possibly the best steak at Tim’s and his prawns are legendary as well. But really what you’ll love is the community vibe and the feeling of literally sitting in someone’s living room and being served delicious soul food (after all, it’s in the name)! Head to Tim’s if you’re craving the most authentic food experience.
Isabella's Tapas Bar
by
Urbanaut
A modern “taperia” or tapas bar in the heart of Panjim - Isabella’s is a welcome and fitting addition to the buzzing Panjim food scene. Arguably the best paella in the city, started by a Goan, but thoughtfully conceptualised to reflect an authentic Spanish tapas bar - this is a must-try when you’re next in Goa.
Hosa
by
Urbanaut
You know Goa is the next culinary capital of the country when the heavyweights behind award-winning restaurant Indian Accent opens a fine-dining establishment in the once sleepy hamlet of Siolim. Hosa presents a modern, approachable take on South Indian cuisine. Dosas and appams play accompaniments to real stars like the Guntur crab fry and ghee roasts. Their tropical cocktails are also excellent. We love their outdoor indoor seating and the Siolim location is a plus. The service, ambience and flavours are all top notch. Definitely worth a visit!
Miski (Community Bar & Dining Room)
by
Urbanaut
Set in the heart of Tobacco Square in Panjim, Miski is that quintessential neighbourhood bar serving nostalgia, friendly bar service and good times always. A true ‘local’, it’s bound to become a place that Goans and visitors flock to for comfort drinks and food after a long day. Definitely worth a visit.

Izumi Goa also features a separate Yakitori bar (skewers and grills) for those looking to try a variety of small plates along with their myriad cocktails.
Tereza Beach House By Sly Granny
by
Urbanaut
Everyone loves a nice bar on the beach, and the Nerul area could definitely use one. Enter Tereza Beach House by the fantastic folks at Sly Granny (we love their Bangalore outpost). Inventive Indian cuisine, a relaxed beachside bar and a different location catering to people in the ‘south’ of North Goa, this is a good bet.

Started by a former Conde Nast staffer, O’Aido is set up in a charming courtyard in a historical hippie hotel in Anjuna. Local menu, craft cocktails with seasonal ingredients and a convivial courtyard vibe promises the type of unpretentious evening that Goa is known for.
Aura beach cafe
by
Urbanaut
Goa might have gentrified over the years - with more artisanal coffee shops than beach clubs, but the dance-loving, party-all-night ravers still have plenty of options to choose from. Aura Beach Cafe is an open air party spot right on the beach where you can find yourself from sunset to sunrise the next morning. They usually host a good lineup of DJs and electronic music act and their location is perfect for an all-nighter - right on Anjuna beach.
Aguada Port & Jail Complex - The Aguad
by
URBN Tech Team
How incredible is the revitalised Aguada Port and Jail complex - or simply, The Aguad. An erstwhile Portuguese jail situated right on the rocks at Sinquierim (lucky inmates!) is now a museum and public space. Their programming is on point, there are restaurants and pop-ups, and their concerts under the stars shouldn’t be missed. We love cultural spaces that add so much to a place like Goa - rich in history, but lacking enough storytellers.
Museum Of Christian Art
by

Dudhsagar Falls
by
Urbanaut
This four-tiered waterfall one of Mollem National Park’s most-frequented natural attractions. The milky white waters, coloured so because of the speed and altitude, tame into a deep green pool near the base. It’s the reward after a long hike, so we dare say you’ll want to take a dip in the inviting natural pool. Dudhsagar is also accessible from Karnataka.

The stunning Tambdi Surla waterfall is a welcome sight to behold when you’re all out of breath after a trying hike.
