Palacio do Deão houses within its walls a history of philanthropy, culture and grandeur. It’s more than 200 years old, and was built by a Portuguese nobleman on the banks of the beautiful Kushavati river. After being a home for Ciceroys, Chaplains and then destitute children, the building was privatised and opened to public to wander through. We’d also recommend dining at the Indo-Portuguese restaurant on the premises — they’re known to serve delicious meals and great cocktails with a homely warmth.
