Join us on a unique journey through Indian Modern Art at the beautiful NGMA. We shall begin our journey at the Gallery’s permanent collection which includes a chronological display of paintings from the 1800s till the present. The exhibition commences with a collection of oil paintings from the British colonial rule that progresses towards the establishment of art schools nationwide in the early 1900s.
The journey sees the emergence of Indian modern artists learning and unlearning the colonial pedagogy and striving to form a style that was true to them and their motherland.
