This workshop session has been designed as an introduction (or refresher!) to natural dyeing - taking participants through the fundamentals of dye-extraction as well as pre and post-dye treatment of natural yarn and fabrics to ensure best results. We will start by a walkthrough of the space which houses exhibitions and a beautiful courtyard with a library & workshop rooms around it.
Details
  • We generate organic waste on our kitchen chopping boards everyday. Stems, peels and leftover scraps from fruits and vegetables are an excellent source of natural dyes. With a few simple steps, kitchen scraps can be used for creative dyeing experiments at home. Natural dyes are an effective and easy alternative to synthetic chemical colours for dyeing yarn, fabric or even paper for beautiful projects that are gentle on the environment.
