Join us this January for a lecture that looks inside the body to ask a deceptively simple question:

How does the immune system remember?

About the Lecture

Vaccines work by teaching our immune system to recognise a pathogen without making us sick. But what does that teaching actually look like at the cellular level, and how long does the lesson last?

This lecture explores the idea of immune memory: the process by which our immune cells learn from infections and vaccinations, and retain that information long after the initial encounter. Using SARS-CoV-2 as a case study, the session unpacks how immune memory is formed, maintained, and sometimes lost.

Drawing on immunology research and real-world examples, the lecture explores:

  • How immune cells “remember” past infections and vaccines
  • Why some immune responses last decades while others fade
  • What immune memory tells us about long-term protection
  • How understanding memory at the cellular level shapes better vaccine design

This session offers a grounded look at the biology itself, revealing how memory operates not just in the mind, but deep within the immune system.

About the Lecturer

K. Mohan Reddy is a PhD student in immunology whose research focuses on understanding how the immune system remembers SARS-CoV-2 long after infection or vaccination. He is pursuing his research at Ashoka University, and when not thinking about immune memory, he can usually be found cooking something overly ambitious, playing chess, or outdoors, enthusiastically overestimating his athletic abilities :p

PS: Your ticket includes a complimentary beverage or snack at the venue—so you can listen, think, and stay for conversation.

About unLecture

unLecture brings experts out of classrooms and into cafés, bars and neighbourhood spaces across Delhi. Created by three friends from St. Stephen’s, Delhi who wanted learning to feel warm, social and alive. unLecture turns an otherwise ordinary evening into a conversation you may think about long after it ends.
