Join us this January for a lecture that begins at the edges of the world, and returns with questions that land much closer to home.

About the Lecture

Antarctica is often imagined as distant, pristine, untouched. A frozen elsewhere. But what happens at the poles does not stay there.

This lecture opens with a sensory journey to one of the planet’s most extreme landscapes. Through stories, images, and lived experience, the session takes the audience from home to the southernmost reaches of the Earth, tracing what it means to encounter the “last wilderness” up close.

Along the way, the lecture explores:

  • What Antarctica really is, and how it is governed
  • Life aboard an expedition vessel: people, wildlife, and the infamous Drake Passage
  • The fragile biology and geology of polar ecosystems
  • Why Antarctica remains deeply affected by events unfolding elsewhere in the world

The second half of the lecture shifts northward, to the Arctic, and outward as well. It examines how polar warming, happening up to four times faster than the global average, sets off cascading effects that shape rainfall patterns, food security, and climate stability in countries like India.

Rather than framing climate change as an abstract global issue, this session situates it as a question of interconnection, between regions, systems, and everyday life. It closes not with alarm, but with an invitation: to question, to trace second-order effects, and to stay rigorously curious about the world we inhabit.

About the Lecturer

Sayesha Dogra is the Founder and CEO of The Climate Party, a first-of-its-kind platform building a scenius, collective genius, for climate solutions in India.

She is the author of Anticlimatic, a widely read publication simplifying climate science through sharp analogies and cultural commentary, with readers across 38+ countries. A Chartered Accountant and graduate of Indian School of Business, Sayesha is both an Antarctic and Arctic expeditioner, with professional experience spanning M&A consulting, venture capital, and consumer technology before turning to climate entrepreneurship.

PS: Your ticket includes a 450/- coupon, redeemable on F&B at the venue.
