Kumbharwada is about a century old settlement in Bombay, of immigrants from Saurashtra. They settled here, and continued the generation-old occupation of pottery, which is practiced till date. Also known as the ‘Potter’s Colony’ in Mumbai, the word ‘Kumbhar’ means Potter and 'Wada' means colony. The ‘Potter's Heritage’ experience will take you through the by lanes of this unique, cultural area in Mumbai.

Explore creations by local potters as they make diyas, everyday utensils, decorative pieces, earthen pots and more as we go. A local who is from a Potter family, will guide us though the lanes showcasing how this craft has been a means of livelihood generation after generation and a lot more stories will come along your way, about the community.

Get your hands dirty in clay, create your own piece on the electric and traditional potter wheel, see the traditional ways of pottery and how they have modernized over the years, explore your city - the local way.

At The Localway, we work closely with local communities and artisans to curate experiences that journey you into their world. Take a skill or two back home, with a lot of memories and feel more connected to your city!
