Known for its unique art of Block Printing, Bagru is a small town in the outskirts of Jaipur which has emerged as one of the industrial areas for textile printing in Rajasthan with over a 100 cottage scale workshops. While travelling to Rajasthan, there is no parallel to seeing artists at work and learning an age old art they have been practising over generations.
Block Printing is an art of printing natural colours on different fabrics using finely carved ‘designer’ wooden blocks. The art involves multiple processes like washing, colour making, block making, reverse printing, multiple printing, boiling, drying, etc.

- During the workshop, we will first take a village tour visiting different houses where each family is engaged in one of the processes of Block printing. We then try our own skills to make a beautiful block printed fabric using designer blocks under the supervision of a Master artisan.

- Kids aged 8-12 years are charged 50% of the cost, kids above 12 at full cost.
- Water, wet tissues, printing apron, a welcome kit with souvenirs are all provided during the workshop.
- Suggested clothing - comfortable clothes below knee length, respecting the villagers and their way of life.
- Start time - 8:30AM from Jaipur because the artisans start working very early in the morning & wrap up their work by noon.
- 48 hours prior booking notice is mandatory.
