Soniferous Garden' – A Vinyl Listening Session is presented by Sarmaya in collaboration with Sonic Memories.
Sonic Memories will complement the current exhibition at Sarmaya "In the Dappled Light" through a curated selection of records inspired by the natural world— that evokes the rhythms and textures of nature. The exhibition is centred around the idea and understanding of nature, and explores how nature has influenced various aspects of human life, such as art, science, and spirituality. The show features contemporary art, indigenous traditions, and rare books.
Sonic Memories is a vinyl listening project by Nikita Fernandes. The project transforms museums and cultural spaces into intimate listening rooms, where rare records become portals into lost cultural movements, hidden musical histories and the extraordinary artists who shaped them. Each listening session unveils lesser known narratives through carefully curated vinyl selections, bringing to life voices and rhythms that history books often miss. From jazz pioneers to underground folk movements, Sonic Memories doesn't just play records – it revives and creates new memories, challenges perspectives, and celebrates the diverse cultural tapestry that music uniquely preserves.
Nikita Infantcia Fernandes is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator and record collector.
