This iconic restaurant bills itself as serving “Russian cuisine with a Hainanese twist”, which isn’t as weird as it sounds. Started in the 1980’s, the restaurant closed in 2015 before being revived in 2018 by the sons of one of the original owners. Many of the original staff are still working here, so be prepared for gruff service (which is all part of the experience).
The shashlik (which the restaurant is named after) is a dish you have to try, along with the borscht and oxtail stew (served only on the weekends).
