About Paithrika Yogam
Paithrika Yogam with The Kochi Heritage Project, offers an informal platform for dialogue and discussion, exploring heritage as experienced by individuals in various contexts. Our goal is to engage with Kochi's rich history across different fields, including culture, art, and heritage trends. We bring together speakers from diverse backgrounds to share their insights. These conversations are reminiscent of traditional yogams or baithaks, providing both speakers and the audience with an opportunity to participate in a communal exchange, reflecting on India’s cultural heritage and its countless expressions.
About the speaker
Kalyani Gopakumar is a storyteller from Thiruvananthapuram, who developed a love for storytelling through the tales passed down by her grandmothers. While running her interior design firm 'The Portrait' in Kochi, she also shares traditional stories with children, fostering creativity and connection. Her digital platform Oridathoridath brings Malayalam stories and poetry to life, aiming to reduce screen time and revive the art of oral storytelling in families. Kalyani also plans to train parents and teachers in this timeless craft.
