Kamathipura: Beyond the Brothel aims to share the lesser known histories and facts of Mumbai’s notorious red light district. From political movements to social dynamics to religious monuments, the walk will reveal how Kamathipura and its residents have contributed to the fabric of the city, state and nation.

Zoya Kathawala has been an arts professional since 2014, during which time she has undertaken various roles across organisations such as Avid Learning, the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation, St+art India Foundation, the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum and the Serendipity Arts Festival among others. In 2022, she began independently leading a heritage walk of Mumbai’s red-light district, titled ‘Kamathipura: Beyond the Brothel’.
