Grand-Place – known to Bruxellois as the Grote Markt – is the central square in Brussels. It is flanked by gorgeous guildhalls, the Town Hall and the Brussels City Museum. The Grand-Place was pivotal in the city’s history, having hosted refugees, makeshift hospitals and military forces during World War 1. Today, the square is home to terraced restaurants, boutique shops and the iconic Godiva Chocolatier.
