It was believed that being buried in the vicinity of the grave of a Sufi, provides a direct pathway to heaven. This is why the area near the shrines of great Sufi saints are studded with most of the royal mausoleums and tombs. In Delhi, the Nizamuddin Basti is one such area which holds the graves of not one but two great Sufi saints, the famous Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya and his much lesser known contemporary, Hazrat Shamsuddin. It is said that Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya used to refer people to him if they wanted speedy results to their prayers.

So join me as we embark on a journey to discover the multicultural necropolis of Nizamuddin Basti, from the shrine of Hazrat Shamsuddin, to the nearby khanqah of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, where he used to reside and pray. Also, bordering these is the Gurudwara Dam Dama Sahib, from where we head on to the exquisite blue dome of the Sabz Burj. Moving on, we head ahead to explore a necropolis of royal Mughal tombs in the vicinity of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya's dargah, finally paying homage to Delhi's most famous poet, Mirza Ghalib, at his resting place
