Quite unexplored, Winch Camp is the highest altitude spot in Joginder Nagar which borders Kangra district. There are two ways to reach this spot -- i.e. via Joginder Nagar itself which is the easier route or via Barot valley through Khooni Ghaati. Now, doesn't the latter induce some goosebumps? There are some interesting tales about the place that locals readily share if they have listeners. So ensure you take out some time for that. It'll take you 3-4 hours to trek to Winch Camp, which is the name of the railway station there. But what's special about that is that the railway tracks (now out of service) are laid down at almost 90 degrees. These tracks were used to bring goods up and down during the years of the British rule, and the entire line comes under Punjab Government and not Himachal. Sunrises and sunsets are equally breathtaking from this spot. It's advisable to get a guide for assistance from Barot valley.
