Discover the world of coins in a fun and interactive Numismatics Workshop for kids!

Join us at Sarmaya’s Craft Your Own Coin workshop and learn about how coins have evolved across centuries in the Indian subcontinent. The session will begin with a special walkthrough of the exhibition, tracing the journey of the Rupee, from the currency we use today to its forms from over 500 years ago, including some of the earliest coinage from the subcontinent. Finally, we will get hands-on in a relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop where children will design and craft their own clay coins and express themselves.

A warm session of learning about the world of coins and using creative imagination to craft your own coins!

This workshop will be facilitated by Sarmaya Arts Foundation in tandem with our new exhibition Odyssey of the Rupee: From India to the World.

Marking 75 years of the Indian Rupee, Odyssey of the Rupee is Sarmaya’s most ambitious exhibition yet. Curated by Dr Shailendra Bhandare of the Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford, with Sarmaya Arts Foundation, the showcase spans centuries of currency, from ancient punch-marked coins to the first coin minted in Independent India. The exhibition also explores how the rupee travelled beyond borders, featuring beautiful and rare coins and notes from regions like Mozambique, Java, and Saudi Arabia.

There will be a walkthrough of the exhibition at Sarmaya Arts Foundation followed by the workshop.

1 Parent/Guardian of each participating child is welcome to accompany them. No extra ticket has to be purchased for the same.
