“Who has known the ocean? Neither you nor I, with our earth-bound senses,” said Rachel Carson, illuminating how little we've known of the womb - mythical evolutionary, cosmic, metaphorical - from where all emerged.
As part of the 'Festival of Ideas - We are the Ocean' Dillipoetry along with The French Institute in India & Alliance Française de Delhi invite you to a two-hour-long immersive poetry writing workshop using Ocean as a theme. The world below the brine as Whitman called it - is a space of quest - elemental, existential, with a celestial depth & distance. Poetry is no different than the sea - both vast, solitary & inherently ungovernable.
This workshop will guide participants through a blend of facilitated reflection, creative writing exercises, and absurd intermingling of medium—literary, movement-based, and visual—to engage with themes like freedom, grief, and possibility. It’s a space for deep self-inquiry, unlocking creativity, and brushing aside the ever-familiar writing block.
Also, the workshop will take place in an immersive exhibition at Galerie Romain Rolland, designed by a team of scenographers to arouse curiosity about some of the most urgent ocean related themes like the rise of the sea levels, migration of marine resources, melting of the Arctic, vulnerable islands, through oceanic visual & spatial patterns, curated artworks, dynamic installations & books.
Note: The medium of the workshop and the referred text will be in English.
