Artist Bio
Sanam Khan is a gifted ghazal singer from New Delhi who has been creating magic all over the world with his heart touching and unique style of rendition of Ghazals. Son of the accomplished Ustad Shahab Khan, Sanam Khan received rigorous training in Khayal Gayaki from his father in his early
years. Later he went on to learn many Ghazal and Thumri compositions from him. His mastery over various raags is clearly visible in his approach to Ghazal rendition. Sanam Khan is an AIR and Doordarshan graded artist. A graduate of Delhi University, he also has a degree in Urdu Literacy from
Urdu Academy.
His mellifluous voice embellished with well-timed melodic improvisations and intricate gayaki captivates the hearts of his listeners and brilliantly explores the depth of each line of a ghazal creating a mesmerizing experience in his concerts. His singing style also has a strong influence of Ghazal maestros like Mehdi Hassan and Ghulam Ali. A notable fact about Sanam Khan and his family is that they run the Ustad Banne Khan memorial trust, an NGO that teaches Indian Classical Music for free.
