An area that is popular with backpackers, Tapovan is away from the clamour of main Rishikesh, and yet retains the feel of the town albeit with a slower pace. It has plenty of budget guesthouses, but even if you don’t stay here, it’s a great place to walk around, pick up trinkets and souvenirs from the plenty of shops there, or hangout at its many neat cafes including the famous Beatles café that overlooks the Ganges and makes for an interesting experience with the artwork on its walls dedicated to the band.
