The heart of Srinagar lies beyond just the Dal Lake. It beats at the center of Shehr-e-Khas, or Downtown as locals call it. This guided walk will take you through the winding alleys of Old Srinagar as you make your way from mosques to tombs, all while gazing at the old houses of Srinagar, built in Kashmir’s traditional architectural style.
Details
- Start your walk from the grand Jama Masjid, one of the most important mosques in Kashmir. Navigating the old lanes and bylanes of the old city, you will reach a one-of-a-kind museum-slash-arts centre where you will witness how pashmina and traditional kashmiri carpets are traditionally woven. You will also be taken on a guided tour of a museum of Kashmiri history and memorabilia. From there, you will walk through a unique spice market, invigorating the senses with its smells, sights, and sounds as you reach a tomb older than time, and finally at the Khanqah-e-Moula mosque, one of the first mosques to be built in Kashmir. Our guide will then take you to the oldest and the only pure rose water distillery for souvenir shopping like no other.
