Warje Urban Forest, better known as Smruti Van, transformed from barren land to a benchmark for urban forestry in India. It’s the first-ever project of its kind in Maharashtra and features 65,000 trees spread out over 40 acres. Stroll through the level paths in the urban forest and you’ll encounter some of the many birds, butterflies, reptiles and animals that call Warje home. Many Punekars choose to volunteer here on a free day; even if you can’t, a morning walk to soak in the sunshine will do you a world of good.
