Welcome to our Clarity Series

The what: The Clarity series, at its core, is a conversation - a conversation to understand your rights, make sense of your experiences, and ask questions about the less talked about aspects of separation and divorce.

The who: Who decides what we talk about? You. You tell us what your areas of confusion are - through Instagram DMs, emails, or on WhatsApp. As for who helps us maneuver this space, experts: lawyers, therapists, child counsellors, and financial advisors.

The where: The conversation happens on Zoom. We create a safe, non-judgmental, anonymous space for you to share your questions and concerns freely.

Edition 10 - Caring for Yourself During Separation: Understanding your emotional responses during this transition

Separation and divorce are among the most psychologically stressful life transitions an individual can experience. Research consistently shows that the impact extends far beyond the end of a relationship, affecting emotional well-being, self-identity, self-esteem, social connections, and overall mental health.

With the legal process being at the forefront of this conversation, your emotions often get pushed to the side.

In this edition, we intend to bring focus on that bit - how are you feeling today, taking a second to acknowledge the subtle ways this phase may have had an impact on your sleep, focus, and decision-making.

This session focuses on how separation influences mental health, why emotional responses can feel intense and unpredictable, and what evidence-based strategies support resilience and recovery. The conversation acknowledges that distress during separation is not a sign of weakness, but a normal response to significant loss, change, and uncertainty.

Areas we will touch upon -

  • Why separation often triggers intense and conflicting emotional responses
  • Early emotional signs that may indicate stress, grief, or emotional overload
  • How this phase can affect sleep, concentration, and decision-making
  • When emotional distress is expected, and when additional support may help

Join this conversation presented by Amaha, a mental health care organisation, and led by Deepanwita (M.Phil, M.Sc), a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Amaha.
