Lecture 14 | Climate Under Pressure: Tracing Human Influence, Extreme Weather, and What Comes Next
“It is unequivocal that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, ocean and land.”— Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
Climate change is no longer a distant idea. It is visible in intensifying heatwaves, erratic rainfall, and seasons that no longer behave as expected. This lecture offers a grounded introduction to how climate science understands these changes.
Prof. Krishna AchutaRao walks through how climate models are used, how extreme weather events are studied, and how scientists distinguish long-term climate trends from natural variability. The session focuses on how knowledge is built, tested, and communicated in a field where uncertainty is unavoidable.

His research focuses on regional climate change, climate modelling, and climate risk assessment, and he has contributed extensively to major international climate assessments.
About Pint of View
Inspired by the Lectures on Tap movement in the US, Pint of View creates informal spaces for serious ideas. It brings together science, art, and curiosity in settings where conversations flow easily and learning feels shared rather than instructional.
