Welcome to Pint of View – Gurgaon's own community where classroom-style lectures meet craft cocktails in a relaxed pub setting.
Every year, millions of people across the world take antibiotics, often without knowing whether they really need them. From pharmacies without prescriptions to leftover pills from past illnesses, this casual misuse is quietly fuelling one of the biggest global health threats of our time: Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
For our second session, we are excited to host Dr. Esmita Charani, Associate Professor and a Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellow at the University of Cape Town, for a talk titled “OOPS! We (mis)used it again: Understanding how antibiotic exposure fuels the rise of drug-resistant infections.”
Dr. Charani’s work explores the social, cultural, and economic factors driving antibiotic use in low- and middle-income countries, and how we can build fairer, more effective systems to tackle AMR — one prescription, policy, and community at a time.
Join us as we unpack how antibiotic misuse affects lives, livelihoods, and health systems — and why this crisis demands not just better science, but more empathy and equity.
All this, over a complimentary pint or mocktail at the lively Gonzo – Asian Tapas Bar, Gurgaon. 🍻
