For our second lecture, we’re bringing you Samhita Arni, a writer, storyteller, and cultural thinker whose work explores the intersections of mythology, memory, and narrative across forms. Best known for her reimaginings of classical Indian epics - The Mahabharata: A Child’s View, Sita’s Ramayana, and The Prince (a re-imagining of the Tamil epic Silappadikaram) - her books have been translated into over ten languages and have received international acclaim. Trained in Transactional Analysis and deeply engaged with narrative as a therapeutic tool for personal and collective meaning-making, Arni is interested in how stories shape consciousness, identity, and our relationship with culture. Her last book won the 2020 Neev Book award. She is also the recipient of the 2024 New Indian Express Devi Award for excellence in writing and has been a New York Times Best Selling author.
Talk: Mythscapes - Architecture of the Inner World - Where Art, Architecture, and the Mind meet
Across Cambodia, Thailand, and India, the same story unfolds in stone — gods and demons churning the ocean of milk, forever locked in cosmic struggle. But these carvings aren’t just art — they’re blueprints of the inner world. In this talk, we’ll journey through sacred stories captured in stone, carved into sculpture, and rendered in art — from Angkor Wat to India — and uncover what truths these ancient myths can offer us about the human psyche, and about our fears, desires, and search for meaning. Rediscover mythology not as fantasy — but as humanity’s first psychology.

- 15–20 minutes of interactive Q&A
