Paradesi Synagogue is the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth. Built in 1568 by the Sephardic Jews who came fleeing religious persecution in Spain, the synagogue is opulent inside with hand-painted Chinese porcelain tiles and Belgian glass chandeliers.
