Through the Hosatodaku Bhojana, Malgudi Mylari Mane invites guests to experience a festival that is deeply cherished, celebrating heritage, community, and the joy of coming together over a generous table.

Among the many festivals celebrated in Karnataka, Ugadi is perhaps the most widely known. It denotes the beginning of spring and a new year for Kannadigas. The day after Ugadi comes Hosatodaku, symbolising a new beginning and celebrating delicious, traditional non vegetarian food.

This year, Malgudi Mylari Mane brings Hosatodaku to its diners through a specially curated menu that blends its signature classics with cherished family recipes from households that have celebrated the festival for generations.

On the menu:

  • The appetisers unfold through robust, home-style preparations from a comforting Bannur lamb broth infused with pepper, ginger, and lemon, to crunchy jowar or millet chips served with a coriander and chilli chutney
  • Guests can expect quail or hakki fry seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and green chilli, prawn masala in roasted coconut, fennel and cumin, and slow roasted and fiery mutton hurthundu made using a recipe that dates back to Malnad’s hunting culture
  • The mains continue the celebration of rural Karnataka flavours. Mylari ghee roast dose paired with boti gojju or tender goat offal cooked in a hearty ginger, garlic, and coconut masala and Malnad koli fry where chicken is cooked with black pepper and curry leave this dish fiery and flavourful and not easily forgotten. Ragi mudde is served alongside the classic NH75 Bannur lamb curry that is a tribute to local cuisine. A festive staple, the mamsa pulav then arrives with gravy and raita
  • To end the experience, steamed rice is served with crab rasam. Once done, paan ice cream provides a refreshing finish to the Hosatodaku Bhojana
