Living Herbarium: Collective Reflections
A workshop by Anurag Singraur
Anurag Singraur is a visual practitioner working at the intersection of art and science, exploring ideas of space, gathering, and collective living. At Lodhi Art District, he presents Living Herbarium, a participatory workshop inspired by the area’s community courtyards and everyday plant life.
Foliage collected by Anurag over the course of a week, along with material gathered by participants during the workshop’s initial walk, from gardens, planters, found spaces, and old books, forms the basis of a collective exercise. Participants create herbarium sheets by pressing or taping plants onto paper, replacing scientific labels with personal, poetic, or speculative responses using text, drawing, or mixed media.
Sheets and foliage may be exchanged, reflecting plant migration, human movement, and shared ecological responsibility. All works are displayed together, suspended by thread, forming a living archive of human plant relationships.
The session concludes with a discussion on art, ecology, and their connections to research, media, and activism.
Capacity: 15 participants
Note for participation:
Please bring a leaf, flower, or fragment of foliage that has stayed with you. All other materials will be provided.
