For our tenth lecture, we’re raising a glass to curiosity with Dr. Abhishek Iyer, a physicist whose love affair with science began not with fireworks. Physics stumped him long before it fascinated him, yet the more it resisted, the more he leaned in.
From late nights with Feynman’s lectures to deep dives into theory at IISc Bengaluru, Abhishek’s journey has been anything but linear. His postdoctoral adventures broadened his perspective, showing that understanding the universe takes as much patience as precision. Today, at IIT Delhi, he continues to follow that same curiosity, sharing the joy of learning and the thrill of discovery with his students.
In his talk, A Brief History of Elementary Particles: Walk Through Time to Understand Fundamental Constituents of Nature, Dr. Iyer guides us through the epic tale of nature’s tiniest building blocks. From the humble atom to the quirky world of quarks and leptons, he unpacks how our understanding of the universe has evolved, one experiment, one equation, and one very human “aha!” at a time. Expect laughter, wonder, and the occasional cosmic pun.
It’s an evening made for curious minds, where stories meet science and the ordinary turns extraordinary over a pint at The Arts Room.

About the Expert
Dr. Abhishek Iyer teaches physics at IIT Delhi. A traveler between equations and ideas, his academic adventures span Ferguson College, IIT Kharagpur, and IISc Bengaluru, followed by research at TIFR Mumbai, INFN Napoli, and IP2I Lyon. His work explores how matter and meaning connect, and how curiosity remains the most powerful force of all.
