Kareri lake trek is slowly becoming popular with the travel community but is still quite unexplored. The entire trail is lined with pine trees and traverses along a gushing river, adding the ideal background music to your steps. It takes about 12 hours in all to reach the lake but it would be best for you to take a halt at Reoti village which is 6-7 hours away from Kareri village which is the base camp. Stay the night at the guest houses there or camp away, and trek the remaining 2-3 hours early next morning to spend some good time at the location. Here you can witness the mighty Dhauladhars, Indrahar pass, and Mun peak in all their glory! The lake freezes during the months of November to March, so ensure you don't take the risk of venturing out then.
