Any Chennai itinerary — niche or not — would be incomplete if it didn’t have the Kapaleeshwarar Temple featured. The glorious multi-coloured edifice is a study in Dravidian architecture and devotion, and is a beloved pilgrimage spot for worshippers of the Lord Shiva. It is said to date back to the 7th century and warrants a visit even if you’re not spiritually or religiously inclined.
