Kafe Utu

Describing itself as an “Afro Cafe & Lounge”, Kafe Utu is probably the only spot in Singapore for authentic East and West African food as well as speciality African coffee. Having grown up in Kenya, owner Kurt Wagner started Kafe Utu to bring a piece of his home to Singapore. The space is split into two levels, with the breakfast bar and al-fresco space downstairs, and a lounge on the second floor which is furnished with pieces from Kenya. For an authentic taste of Africa, try the fried plantain rubbed in Liberian spices, Malindi croquette (croquettes of cassava leaves and spices), and the Swahili fish curry.
