Life doesn’t always make sense and not everything needs to be processed head-on.

In this Listening Club session, Author and Storyteller Shormistha Mukherjee invites us to explore what happens when we look at difficult experiences from a little distance. When we stop standing inside the moment and begin to observe it - gently, curiously, sometimes even with humour.

This is an interactive gathering about stories we carry, perspective, and the strange comfort of finding lightness without dismissing what was hard.

Together, we’ll explore how shifting perspective can sometimes soften the grip of old moments :

  • How to look at stories as a curious observer, not a character trapped inside them
  • Why some small things hurt more than big events and what that tells us.
  • Finding comfort and humour in the ordinary, even in unlikely places.
  • Making space for honesty without heaviness.

Sometimes, what once felt unbearable becomes oddly manageable, even lightly amusing, when you’re no longer standing right in the middle of it.

About the Speaker

Shormistha Mukherjee is an best selling author and storyteller who writes with honesty, wit, and a deep tenderness for the messiness of life. Shormistha has a rare gift: she can look at pain without flinching and still find moments of levity, clarity, and warmth within it.

Her previous works have included books like Cancer, you picked the wrong girl, Pudding - the memory keepers of Bandra and the widely popular Instagram page, Houses of Bandra. Rather than offering answers, she invites reflection, encouraging us to step back just enough to see our experiences in a different light.
