Roots & Revival: Mapping Calcutta’s Cultural Legacy A heritage walk tracing Calcutta’s cultural landscape — from early art pedagogy and the origins of the Asiatic Society to the city’s first museums and exhibitions. It follows the Bengal School’s links to late Mughal art and a brief history of miniature painting in India, while uncovering lesser-known stories from the Indian Museum’s collection.
Host: Soumyadeep Roy is a visual artist whose work has been showcased in exhibitions, residencies, and art programmes across Kolkata, Lucknow,Mumbai, Chester (UK), Kathmandu, New York, Bangladesh, South Korea, and more. With a research focus in 18th and 19th century histories, he is the founder of Heritage and Art Walks Kolkata and has been leading heritage and art walks in the city since 2015.
