Founded in 1864 as the British Imperial Forest School, this institution is amongst the oldest of its kind. Today, the stately 450-hectare academy is used for the training of the Indian Forest Service officers and also for conducting workshops and sessions for the forest department from all over the country. The campus set against a stunning mountain landscape is worth a visit not only for its historical role, but also its unique Greco-Roman and colonial architecture which makes it a national heritage site.
