In the quiet corners of Maharashtra’s farmlands, a crisis has been unfolding for decades. While the world often looks at these events through the lens of statistics or police reports, Dr. Jomy Abraham argues that a farmer's suicide note is far more than a legal document; it is a powerful political catalyst. This session is an essential exploration of how the most private act of despair transmutes into a ‘political voice’ that demands a public hearing and negotiates for the future of an entire community.
Trigger Warning: This session involves deep discussions regarding suicide, the agrarian crisis, and systemic distress. We approach this subject with the utmost gravity and respect for the lives and families affected.
Join us as we bridge the gap between literature, law, and the soil. Dr. Abraham will guide us through her ground-breaking research on Critical Suicidology, moving the conversation from cold data to the living ‘text’ of the farmer. We will deconstruct how a singular note can challenge power and solicit a public readership that refuses to look away.
All of this, over a complimentary beer or mocktail at Over The Moon, Gachibowli.
