Colour in Motion: Graffiti Colour Wheel
This hands-on workshop explores the colour wheel through the language of graffiti, moving beyond paper theory into real-world mural practice. Participants learn how colour behaves through spray paint — on walls, at architectural scale, and in outdoor light conditions.
Beginning with primary, secondary, and complementary colour relationships, the session quickly moves into aerosol techniques including spray caps, line weight, pressure control, distance, fades, gradients, fills, highlights, shadows, and outlines. Participants also learn how surface texture, overspray, drying time, and natural light impact colour intensity in public art.
Working in sections, participants create parts of a large-scale graffiti colour wheel, learning how blending, edge control, and contrast create depth and movement in mural work. The workshop concludes with a collaborative assembly of all segments into a shared graffiti wheel, highlighting how structure and improvisation coexist in street art practice.
Open to beginners and enthusiasts, the session frames colour as an active force in public art — shaping rhythm, attention, and spatial experience.
