Colbar

The name Colbar is a portmanteau of the words ‘colonial’ and ‘bar’, which give you a hint of this establishments history as a canteen for the British Army. Started in 1953, Colbar has definitely stood the test of time. The interior is decidedly retro. Expect Formica tables and faded photographs, and there’s no air conditioning here. Don’t expect a trendy menu (the only coffee available here is Nescafé), but what you will get is substantial portions of food reminiscent of Singapore’s time under the British. There’s also a good selection of craft beers.
