Calling all young explorers! Join the Sarmaya Team for a special children’s walkthrough of our brand-new exhibition Odyssey of the Rupee: From India to the World - a journey that turns coins into time machines and money into stories.
Marking 75 years of the Indian Rupee, this is Sarmaya’s most ambitious exhibition yet. Curated by Dr. Shailendra Bhandare of the Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford, with Sarmaya Arts Foundation, the showcase travels across centuries - from ancient punch-marked coins to the very first coin minted in Independent India. Kids will discover how the rupee crossed oceans and cultures, encountering rare and beautiful coins and notes from places like Mozambique, Java, and Saudi Arabia.
And the best part? Children get to design and make their own coins in our activity nook, inspired by the symbols, stories and scripts they discover along the way
A perfect adventure for curious minds and history buffs in the making.
