Founded in the early sixties, the Chaurasi Kutia ashram shot to fame when the Beatles visited Maharishi Mahesh Yogi there in 1968, following which it earned its famous nickname. Spread across nearly 15 acres that share a boundary with the dense teak forests of Rajaji national park that has taken over parts of this now dilapidated campus, the place is full of remnants of buildings that had unusual architecture for their times.
