A watering hole for the readerly and the writerly, Hitchens is a moody, low-lit, plant-speckled, two-level space that pays tribute to British-American journalist Christopher Hitchens. Visitors who aren’t already familiar with this contrarian author of 18 books will find striking portraits of him all around, and quotes by him (like the one above), hand-painted on the walls of the ground floor.

Bombay Daak’s menu is inspired by some of India’s most famous dive bars, from Chhota Bristol, one of Kolkata’s oldest dating back to the 1800s, and even Mumbai’s hole-in-the-walls Janata and Gokul, with their fun iterations of peanut chakna and chakri. But beyond bars, the menu digs deep into India’s communities and their unique drinking traditions and ancestral recipes handed down through generations.

While there is a whole lotta shakin’ going on behind the bar, the signature cocktails are a labour of intensive effort and deep immersion into the bylanes of Bandra.

Aditi Dugar - the brains behind Masque (the city’s best restaurant) brings her signature touch to the food at this lovely restaurant, and Sangita Kathiwada, the owner, lends her magical curatorial touch and impeccable design sensibility to the space. We look forward to eating outdoors when the weather is nice, but Circle Sixty Nine is a fantastic place for a family dinner, a romantic date or just a casual lunch. Basically - a restaurant for all seasons and reasons.

The brand brings its signature aesthetic and aroma to the city, with a brilliant menu designed by Aditi Dugar of Masque and helmed by chef Rahul Sharma. The special bit about the Bombay branch? It’s India’s first ever restaurant dedicated to regenerative agriculture. Regenerative agriculture goes a step beyond sustainability, in that it leaves the soil richer than when you began. We are massive fans of Araku in Bangalore and thrilled to see this landmark in Bombay.

A 12-week pop-up brought to you by the beloved and brilliant Chef Gresham of Saltwater Grill (and in fact, the pop-up is cleverly located in the same venue but with a distinct riff on branding, menu and vibe) - we loved the inventive drinks by Pankaj of Countertop (rum and sugarcane for the win) and the fabulous small plates and mains that were part-nostalgia, full-taste. Make sure you reserve a table before this pop-up potentially shuts at the end of December. You’ll be wise to go back a couple of times as their menu is extensive, with plenty of amazing vegetarian options. Make sure you say hi to the ever-friendly Bandra born and bred chef who’s always around to ensure his guests are having the best time. We are.

Apparently India’s first Negroni bar, the downstairs is perfect for a night-time bar scene and the food upstairs at the restaurant is excellent - Indian fine-dining with strong coastal influences.

Mezcal cocktails, flowing tequila, an extensive wine menu now accompany the slew of incredible Spanish dishes on offer. The fish tacos, pork belly/pork ribs, Gambas Al Ajillo and their generous vegetarian menu offerings are all fantastic and to be savoured.

XXL allows viewers to engage intimately and closely with an art form that’s generally seen in public and enjoyed from afar. The name also references the scale of street art, that’s often large, and the gallery partakes in this ethos of displaying art that’s larger than life, even as it brings such art within the folds of its walls.
