Steps Café
by
Urbanaut
Hurray for adorable, atmospheric places of calm in the middle of Bombay. The Steps in Bandra is a wonderful example of how we can reclaim and reinvent unused (and abused) public spaces. This cafe overlooks this wonderful community space serving great coffee and better views. The service can be slow but you’re there to soak it in. Make a visit.
Bastian - At The Top
by
Urbanaut
Towering above the city on the 48th floor, Bastian - At The Top is an exciting addition to the popular restaurant. With 360 views, a swimming pool (!), great cocktails and their signature high quality menu - this is a great spot for a celebration or to take friends when they visit the city
Circle Sixty Nine
by
Urbanaut
The naughtily named bistro housed in the gorgeous art-deco stunner that is Kathiwada City House is a real treat. Aditi Dugar - the brains behind Masque (the city’s best restaurant) brings her signature touch to the food at this lovely restaurant, and Sangita Kathiwada, the owner, lends her magical curatorial touch and impeccable design sensibility to the space. We look forward to eating outdoors when the weather is nice, but Circle Sixty Nine is a fantastic place for a family dinner, a romantic date or just a casual lunch. Basically - a restaurant for all seasons and reasons.
Araku Coffee
by
Urbanaut
Those familiar with Araku coffee will celebrate the launch in Bombay. The brand brings its signature aesthetic and aroma to the city, with a brilliant menu designed by Aditi Dugar of Masque and helmed by chef Rahul Sharma. The special bit about the Bombay branch? It’s India’s first ever restaurant dedicated to regenerative agriculture. Regenerative agriculture goes a step beyond sustainability, in that it leaves the soil richer than when you began. We are massive fans of Araku in Bangalore and thrilled to see this landmark in Bombay.
BANDRA BORN
by
Urbanaut
You know when you’re looking for something fresh, buzzing and new, but still somewhat under the radar? Bandra Born is just that. A 12-week pop-up brought to you by the beloved and brilliant Chef Gresham of Saltwater Grill (and in fact, the pop-up is cleverly located in the same venue but with a distinct riff on branding, menu and vibe) - we loved the inventive drinks by Pankaj of Countertop (rum and sugarcane for the win) and the fabulous small plates and mains that were part-nostalgia, full-taste. Make sure you reserve a table before this pop-up potentially shuts at the end of December. You’ll be wise to go back a couple of times as their menu is extensive, with plenty of amazing vegetarian options. Make sure you say hi to the ever-friendly Bandra born and bred chef who’s always around to ensure his guests are having the best time. We are.
Native Bombay
by
Urbanaut
The converted ice-factory and art/design space IF:BE is a fast favourite and their cocktail bar and novel Indian restaurant Native is a fantastic addition. Apparently India’s first Negroni bar, the downstairs is perfect for a night-time bar scene and the food upstairs at the restaurant is excellent - Indian fine-dining with strong coastal influences.
Across
by
Urbanaut
Across tells the story of the eastern Himalayas by tweaking recipes from across the mountains and bringing them to the artsy lanes of Kala Ghoda, Mumbai in a modernist avatar. The carefully curated menu spotlights an abundance of flavours that linger long after the meal and stories from distant lands. Staying true to the growing trend of sustainability, the menu constantly evolves, shaped by what’s in season and what ingredients arrive. With regular shipments of produce from across the Himalayas like Salyan, Solukhumbu, Paro, Dharan and Mustang there will always be something new to taste.
La Loca Maria
by
Urbanaut
The excellent La Loca Maria by Chef Manuel Oliviera gets a reboot - and this time with drinks! Mezcal cocktails, flowing tequila, an extensive wine menu now accompany the slew of incredible Spanish dishes on offer. The fish tacos, pork belly/pork ribs, Gambas Al Ajillo and their generous vegetarian menu offerings are all fantastic and to be savoured.
Bombay Coffee House
by
Sreya Muthukumar
Quintessential coffee shop with a commendable all-day breakfast. Decorated with pictures of Mumbai from previous centuries, Bombay Coffee House is a great place to spend an evening with friends, or even by yourself.

Children can truly change the world, if they have the environment to do so. Museum of Solutions is a world-class interactive, science-meets-play space for children of all ages to learn about the world in a fun and engaging way. Supported by JSW, this incredible impressive museum boasts a library and reading room, an extensive climbing structure that spans two floors, tons of immersive and interactive areas and will also host workshops and classes for kids. Gallery XXL
by
Urbanaut
Gallery XXL is in a century-old bungalow that aim to take the dialogue on urban art to the next level. XXL allows viewers to engage intimately and closely with an art form that’s generally seen in public and enjoyed from afar. The name of the Gallery also references the scale of street art, that’s often large, and the gallery partakes in this ethos of displaying art that’s larger than life, even as it brings such art within the folds of its walls.
Art and Charlie
by
Urbanaut
Bandra may have a lot of wonderful things - but the art galleries are few and far between. This changes thankfully, with the addition of Art and Charlie. The former “moving gallery” is now at the big red house with a little cafe to boot! Not only do they have an active calendar with their exhibitions, but the space will come to life with performances,

Bhavya Ramesh Jewelry
by
Urbanaut
Located in the famed art district of Kala Ghoda Mumbai amidst heritage landmarks and boutiques, Bhavya Ramesh’s store is a space that appears to be out of a fantasy novel; and as unique as the jewelry pieces housed within it. This aesthetics-meets-function concept store departs from conventional store displays. From earrings to sunglasses, necklaces to nail rings, each item in the store has the distinctive touch of Bhavya's passion and artistic vision. With sculptures inspired by Indian mythology acting as mannequins to showcase the jewellery & a serpent mouth that acts as the door to the store, this one is a must-visit for architect nerds & jewellery enthusiasts.
Souzagad Homestay
by
Urbanaut
Souzagad promises a sweet little getaway by the Ulhas river, amidst 120 acres of mango plantations. The erstwhile family holiday property is open to guests looking for an escape from Mumbai’s always on culture, and has two exclusive villas to rent out. The property is luxuriously appointed — there’s a riverside bar, a stocked kitchen and library, and a games area — but even so, you’d feel the pull of nature at all times.
Art Village Karjat
by
Urbanaut
Only a 90-minute drive away from busy Mumbai, Art Village is sat on 15 gorgeous acres of farmland. The farm stay is a great place to immerse yourself in art and nature; indeed, the three cottages at the village encompass both these aspects, as well as interesting architecture. For meals, you’ll get vegetarian farm-fresh produce cooked to perfection at the Earth Café. There’s a human-made lake and farmland, as far as the eye can see, to work off your meal and work up your appetite in time for the next. The meditation centre is where you should head to for a few quiet moments of reflection.

Capsul
by
Urbanaut
We may be biased towards Capsul - their founders are Bangalore insiders who’ve shared their recommendations for the Garden city on this very app. But this multi-brand streetwear retailer for apparel and accessories is truly world-class. They curate a brilliant and elevated selection of ‘conversation starters’ from less commercial global brands like Pleasures, The Hundreds and more (as well as a great selection of homegrown Indian streetwear brands like Almost Gods). Their Bombay store is perfectly situated in Ranwar, Bandra - so you should find yourself popping over time and time again to check out their regular new drops and always fresh selection.
